We're keeping the first test group small so every tester gets a direct line to the developer, and so we get real coverage across devices, calibres and shooting conditions. Places are allocated at our discretion to balance that mix — device type, firearm type and location all factor in. If this round fills, we'll open another.

Pricing has not been finalised. Our current intention is a free tier covering core training, plus a paid tier in the range of roughly $7–$15 per month, with a one-time purchase option under consideration.

These figures are indicative only. They are not an offer, not a commitment, and may change before launch. Final pricing will be published on the app store listing at release. Any purchase at launch is made through Google Play or the App Store — never through this website.

LaserLock uses Google Play Integrity, Google's own app-verification service, to confirm that your copy is genuine, unmodified and installed from Google Play. This protects you from tampered or repackaged builds circulated outside the Play Store, which are a common way malware reaches shooters' phones.

• You need to be online the first time you open the app. Verification takes a few seconds and happens by itself.
• After that, the app works offline for up to five days. Train at the range, in a shed, or anywhere with no signal — nothing is required of you.
• Around day three the app shows a quiet reminder. Connect to the internet once, it re-verifies in the background, and the five days start again. You can go straight back offline.
• If you use the app while connected, this happens silently and you will never see a prompt at all.

During beta there is also a 60-hour total usage allowance across the whole test period, measured as time actually spent in the app. This keeps the closed test to a sensible size while we gather feedback. You will see how much remains inside the app, and it does not apply to the released version.

No account is required and none of this involves your personal information. Verification sends Google's result plus a one-way coded identifier for your device — not your name, email, location, or anything from your camera. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Some testers may be invited to record a short walkthrough or review clip showing the app in real use. Where that happens we may offer a thank-you such as a discount or a period of free subscription at launch, and in some cases a limited discount code you can pass to your own audience — ask us if that would be useful to you.

Sharing your experience helps this reach the shooters who would benefit from it, and early reviewers tend to find it grows their own audience too. It is entirely optional. You are equally welcome to post a walkthrough purely to help the community, with no perk involved — in which case you can say plainly that the video is unpaid and unaffiliated.

• If you do receive a discount, free period or code, please disclose it in your post so you meet your platform's sponsorship rules.
• Perks are never tied to leaving a rating or review on Google Play, and we will never ask you to.
• If the app impresses you, say so openly — that is what helps other shooters find it. If something falls short, please send it to us directly first so we can fix it and improve the app for the whole community.

Video invitations, perks and discount codes are offered entirely at the discretion of the LaserLock team, are limited in number, and are not part of the beta test itself. Taking part is not a condition of testing, and declining changes nothing about your place in the program.
